Field capacity

Field capacity is water content that represents the capability of the soil to hold water in the unsaturated zone. When the soil water content decreases below field capacity, capillary forces will draw the water into the unsaturated zone from the saturated zone. (Reference:Dingman, S.L, 2002. Physical Hydrology.
